Having a passion and love for trance music as long as he can remember, bornaDj took to the stage his first gig in Melbourne, mid 2009. Taking in a mixture of all elements from uplifting & vocal melodies to down and dirty bass lines and thumping trance beats, his aim is to take the crowd on a journey.

Drawing on influences from a wide variety of trance producers, bornaDj anticipates to become a successful figure within the local Australian trance scene.

Born and breed in Zagreb, Croatia he moved to the land of opportunity when only 2, living here ever since. bornaDj has developed a mad passion for trance; uplifting to epic, progressive to vocal and anything in between and many other genres as well, "all depends on what mood I’m in".

ClubAntix threw bornaDj in the corner asking him the questions that no one else does...

If you were a piece of string, what colour would you be and why?
A string?? Never ever thought about it to be honest. Umm, if I had to pick a colour, I would pick blue, it’s a man’s colour after all!

What is your most outrageous clothing / performance item?
Um…don’t really have any outrageous clothing but I obviously love to feel good up their while spinning tunes. Generally a nice pair of jeans, my cream pair of closed shoes and a shirt! Gotta look sexy while playing to please the crowd!

You cannot perform without?
Jack and coke! Kills the nerves definitely!

(That’s Jack Daniels and coke…)

What is your mobile phone's current ringtone?
Standard Nokia ring ring. I work as a Sales & Marketing manager for a toy company so during meetings I can’t have banging or uplifting tunes coming out of my phone. Would be funny however!!

Track you'd love to remix?
I’m yet to get into production, still currently just building myself as a DJ alongside monthly mixes and a brand I’ve put alongside that. Hopefully in 12 months or so I’d love to get into production. As for remixing, ill have to get back to you on that one!

Track you never want to hear again and why?
Anything by Pink!!! Honestly cannot stand her and the radio uses and abuses her tracks 24/7!!!

John Farnham - national treasure or scourge of humanity?
Nah I honestly think he is a national treasure. Loves his country, loves what he sings about. Definetly!!

Which artist/band in history would you want to support?
100% hands down Guns N Roses!!! Quality rock and roll right there and always blast their CD whilst on road trips!!

Beatles or Stones?
Neither, Gunners all the way!

Name 5 people, dead or alive you'd put front row centre at a gig?
Bill Clinton, Davor Suker (a former Croatian soccer player, one of the greatest), The Pope, John O’Callaghan and a T.V Crew!

What's your favourite plugin and why?
The little jack that plugs my stereo into my laptop! Why? Obvious reasons...

How long have you been at this?
My best mate who I DJ with a lot (Anthony P) actually taught me the basics and started to get the hang of it. I remember my first piece of DJ equipment was a Behringer BCD3000 which was a good little unit for practicing, house parties etc but last NYE at a mates place; I was on the decks all night and was actually spinning some decent tracks. I ended up just buying a cheap set up and through this recorded my very first mix which actually landed me my first gig at White Sands (Melbourne). All in all I would say I have been DJin for about 9 months or so.

Have you ever played in Albury?
No, but I have been their twice both for work trips. For some reason, I don’t think the locals would appreciate uplifting and epic trance.

Influences:
Armin Van Buuren, Giuseppe Ottaviani, Steve Strangis.

If they can do it, so can I...

Flu Shots:
Yeah pretty sure I have them... lol

Shoe Size:
11/12. Depends on the type of shoe

First Pets Name:
I remember having a rabbit as my first pet but that ran away one afternoon, forget his or hers name

A quick message:"Would like to thank everybody has supported me up until now by coming to my shows, grabbing my monthly mixes and esp the guys at White Sands for giving me an opportunity to show Melbourne what I’ve got to offer. Oh and mum!!"
