The Bamboos

Print
The Bamboos are a phenomenon. A roller-coaster. A movement. A downright funk & soul, mod rock, psychedelic, hip hop explosion. Did we mention that they're world beaters too? That's right – after releasing 4 records worldwide, regularly touring the UK and Europe, garnering praise form the likes of Mark Lamar and Harry Shearer (that's Apu Nahasapeemapetilon to you) and even sound-tracking Grey’s Anatomy – The Bamboos return to Australian shores to give their home crowd a dose of what the rest of the world is guzzling by the gallon.

This is a band that was once described as “the best deep funk band in the world today” as well as “bad mother****ers” by soul legend Syl Johnson. Big wraps indeed – but wraps The Bamboos were born ready for. In fact in February this year – The Bamboos played the prestigious headline set at the St Kilda Festival. 7000 people got their dancing shoes on, put their hands in the air and lost their minds in the best way possible.

Bamboos main man Lance Ferguson may be New Zealand born – but to Australians he deserves to be up there with Tim Finn and the entire New Zealand soccer team. He's a bona-fide funk brother and the whole of Australia should throw their hands in the sky and thank the Good Dude – The Bamboos are here to save our dancing souls. Get ready to testify.
