It’s been a hell of a ride since The Audreys first took their trademark roots/alt/country sound out of the studio and onto stages in 2006. Their 2 albums “Between Last Night and Us” and “When The Flood Comes” both took out the ARIA for Best Blues and Roots album giving them a strike rate the envy of many a musician.
4 and 5 star album reviews , rave live reports, shows in the US, Canada, and Europe followed sold out shows in Australia, and brought The Audreys to mid 2009 , when they started piecing together the first notes of their 3rd record, “Sometimes The Stars.”
Not ones to rest on their laurels, The Audreys re-invented the approach to this recording, with a focus back on the song writing core and heart of the band; Taasha Coates and Tristan Goodall. Calling on a who’s who of Australian musicians to contribute to the making of “Sometimes The Stars”, including Tim Rogers, jazz avante garde pianist Paul Grabowsky, and Michael Barker of John Butler Trio fame, the duo set to work under the deft hand of producer, engineer and friend Shane O’Mara.
The writing and making of the record was interspersed with a backpacking jaunt through India, a tequila-soaked trip to Los Angeles, and a determined focus to get back to what started the whole shebang in the mid 2000’s; The songs of Taasha and Tristan.
The Audreys will be taking “Sometimes The Stars” on the road playing all states and many regional areas across Australia throughout October, November and into December. It’s been over 2 years since Australia has seen the band playing many of these cities and towns, and with a new touring band backing Taasha and Tristan, these are shows not to miss.
Joining The Audreys as their special guest support at all shows, except those noted below*, will be piano based indie pop songwriter Nicolas Roy. Nicolas burst on the radar in 2010 with the JJJ play listed song “It’s All My Fault”, and will be releasing his debut album to coincide with this national tour.
Fans of The Audreys will be able to purchase limited editions of the album on physical and digital formats, with 2 separate live EPs available, each containing 4 different tracks recorded at their Acoustic Duo shows earlier this year.
