With five shows already down, Powderfinger’s Sunsets Farewell tour, is well and truly underway. The boys kicked things off to a rousing reception in Newcastle last week and have had audiences in awe at sold out shows on the Gold Coast and home town Brisbane.

In Brisbane not even the rains could dampen what lead singer Bernard Fanning declared was a celebration, with fans singing along to a set list that played like a comprehensive collage of Powderfinger’s twenty year career. With noted Courier Mail music journalist Noel Mengel proclaiming “I've never seen them deliver a better show than this one at the Brisbane Riverstage on Saturday night”.

The largely sold out tour continues across the country with only a handful of tickets remaining to shows in Tamworth, Melbourne, Perth, Darwin, Cairns, Mackay, Rockhampton and Albury.

The Brisbane boys will return home to wrap things up with their final three shows at Riverstage in a fitting farewell to the town where it all began. Tickets to these last shows were snapped up within hours of going on sale, but in a move that is sure to put a smile on many Powderfinger fans faces, the lovely folk at Brisbane City Council have approved an increase in capacity to the 10, 12 and 13 November shows, with a further one thousand tickets being made available for each date.

Tickets go on sale at 9.00am on Monday, 13 September, 2010, and are sure to go quickly so don’t miss out on the very last opportunity to farewell the ‘Finger.

The band have partnered with The Yalari Foundation for the tour. Yalari sponsors Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children from regional, rural and remote areas to attend boarding schools all around the country so they can receive the a first class education through full boarding scholarships at the highest achieving secondary schools.
