Hailing from one of trance’s fastest growing map points, meet Ireland’s freshest EDM maestro, Paul Webster. Just 3 years on from his debut breakthrough, Paul has poured fire onto dance-floors worldwide with a rush of blood-pumping music and viscerally-exciting DJ performances. It’s a two handed approach that has set in motion an electronic music career that has ‘next big thing’ written all over it. Paul Webster.Webster’s first production ‘Corruption’ in 2006 immediately acquired strong radio support from Judge Jules, who made it ‘Tried and Tested’ it on his Radio 1 show. The initial buzz nudged it further onto the radars of Paul Van Dyk, Eddie Halliwell, Marco V, John O'Callaghan, Sander Van Doorn and Tiësto - becoming a mainstay of their sets. With Jules continuing to hammer it both club-side and on the radio, the track was picked up and released by Armin van Buuren’s Captivating Records. From there Paul has kept up systematic pressure on dance-land with a slew of high-quality productions including ‘Cut Off’, ‘Engaged’, ‘Nailed’ and ‘Problems’ - splitting them between the Captivating and Fraction labels.
On the DJing front, Paul holds two residencies in Ireland at Lektrik & Trancelation. Treating each new club audience as an individual opportunity, he tailors every set specifically to the mood of the crowd. This, in turn, continually evolves his multi-faceted trance sound. It’s these residencies, twinned with the productions themselves that first brought him to the attentions of the major clubbing brands. He’s spun at the world-renowned Godskitchen, at festivals including Planet Love & en-Trance in Poland, and warmed up for Armin van Buuren at Gatecrasher’s 15 birthday celebrations at Tall Trees (where he now subsequently holds a residency). Paul Webster
On the remix side of the coin, he has been equally pedal-to-the-metal... In 2007 he reworked Michael Woods’ classic Warrior’s release ‘If You Want Me’. After hearing it in one of Paul’s sets, Jules obtained a copy and immediately ‘Tried & Tested’, making Paul one of the few people to receive the accolade in such a short space of time. Webster has also lent his studio know-how to John Gibbons and Scmion Tist’s ‘Beautiful Filth’ (which notably is the only instrumental track to enter the Irish top 40 in the last 12 years). Paul Van Dyk started playing Webster’s mix in Oct 2007 and was still hammering it nine months late in June 08. He’s also reconfigured Alex Kunnari’s breakthrough track ‘Lifter’ for Tiësto’s Black Hole Recordings, Hydroid’s ‘Eternal’ for VANDIT and most recently Olive’s anthemic ‘You’re Not Alone’, specifically for use in his own sets.
Webster also has a wide-ranging on-air radio profile with a regular show on PVD’s VONYC station (going out on the 1st Wednesday of every month). Additionally he also presents and co/presents monthly on John Gibbons’ Club Educate and has just started his Vision show on DI:FM, which goes out on the 2nd Tuesday of the month (3pm US EST/ 8pm GMT/ 21:00 CET).
In early 2009 Paul was signed to the Fresh DJ agency for his national & international bookings and worldwide management. Subsequently he’s gone on to play Luminosity’s 1st anniversary party (on the eve of Trance Energy 2009) in Amsterdam. This summer he will make his all-important Ibizan spinning debut at Judge Jules’ Judgement Sundays night as well as first appearances for Inside Out and Good Greef. On the production side, his latest floor-burner ‘Istanbul’ has been rapidly racking up the DJ plays, while August will herald the release of his new track and ‘The Wolf’. Summer ‘09 will also bring his first vocal outing, featuring one of trance music’s best known vocalists, as well as new remixes on Armada, VANDIT & Fraction.
