One Movement for Music Perth (OMFM) has confirmed a further round of speakers to join the increasingly impressive international line-up announced for the 6 to 10 October, 2010 event.
The newly announced participants include a host of well known Australian music industry leaders along with several international industry heavy weights from Japan, the UK and the USA, who bring with them a wealth of knowledge on the current state of affairs in the global market.
“The diversity of speakers provides conference goers with an opportunity to gain global views on the state of the music industry and reinforces Perth’s positioning as Australia’s new ‘it’ city” said David van Ooran, Executive Director, Eventscorp.
OMFM will include a music industry conference, an Industry Showcase series across a plethora of venues in the Perth’s CBD and a three-day multi-stage outdoor music festival showcasing around 60 acts from around the globe.
The promoters are thrilled to announce that joining the growing international contingent will be Troy Carter, Founder, Chairman and CEO of the Coalition Media Group, the worldwide manager for Lady Gaga, who will be speaking for the first time in Australasia. Other internationals who have been confirmed include Dave Curtin (Managing Director/ Founder, DeepMix, USA), James Foley (Contributing Writer, Record of the Day, UK), Tak Furuichi (International A+R, JVC Victor Entertainment Inc, Japan) and Taichi Inoue (President, Surfrock International, Japan).

Lars Brandle (Aust) - Lars Brandle has forged a career reporting at the frontline of the international music industry. For the best part of a decade, Lars served as Global News Editor for America’s Billboard Information Group. After nearly 12 years living in London, Lars returned to Australia in 2008. He currently serves as Billboard Magazine’s Australasian Bureau Chief and is a regular contributor to The Music Network and various international music publications, including the British-based IQ and Music & Copyright magazines.
Troy Carter (USA) - Troy Carter is the Founder, Chairman and CEO of Coalition Media Group, a talent management and full-service film and television production company which he started in 2001. Troy is responsible for establishing the careers of numerous recording artists, including multi-Platinum Grammy Award winner, Lady GaGa.
Brett Cottle (Aust) - Brett Cottle is the Chief Executive of Australasian Performing Right Association Limited (APRA), a position held since July 1990.
Dave Curtin (USA) – Dave is currently a managing partner at DeepMix Music LA, where he initiates strategic alliances with record labels, music publishers, artists, composers and advertisers. A current list of brands/agencies he works with includes Nissan, TBWA/Chiat Day, Budweiser, DDB Needham, KFC, Hilton and Coors Light, while artists that Dave has either created music with or licensed music from for advertising campaigns include LL Cool J, Donavon Frankenreiter, DJ Junkie XL, Stereophonics, Kaskade and Daft Punk. And he can still occasionally be found in the DJ booth at Hollywood hotspots.
James Foley (UK) - James Foley is Music Editor for UK music industry publication Record of the Day. With a great track record of picking up early successes, Record of the Day has proved to be a key starting place for many acts. As well as being responsible for the future hits on Record of the Day, James is a frequent contributor to radio, TV and press in the UK and was also on the judging panel for the 2009 Choice Music Prize.
Tak Furuichi (Japan) - Tak Furuichi is an international specialist in the International A&R department at JVC Victor Entertainment, Inc., one of the largest independent record labels in world. Furuichi has been with the company since 1992 and with his main role being the acquisition of international repertoire for release in Japan and also liaising with international partners, he has established a strong and extensive network of associates in the music industry.
Taichi Inoue (Japan) - Born in Tokyo and raised in Hawaii, Taichi began his career in the music industry at PolyGram’s classical and jazz department in Japan. He joined Universal Music International in 2001 and had great successes as marketing director for Interscope, Geffen, A&M and Dreamworks’ rock and pop releases. Although his achievements in the major label sphere were promising, Taichi resigned and founded an independent label called Surfrock International, Inc. (SRI) in 2006.
Shaun James (Aust.) - Shaun James has 20 years experience spanning the entertainment and broadcast industries. Gaining extensive marketing experience at Warner Music for a nine year period, he then spent a further 5 years with the organisation as Chairman and CEO, Australia & New Zealand, which covered both the recording and publishing companies within Warner Music. Most recently, Shaun spent over 3 years at Network TEN before joining XYZ Networks, as GM of the music channels [V], [V] Hits, Max and CMC in 2008 and since that time has overseen some of the country’s biggest local music productions including The Big Day Out, Sound Relief, The Max Sessions, & CMC Rocks the Snowy’s.

Kathy McCabe (Aust) - Daily Telegraph music editor Kathy McCabe has been a professional gig pig since her ex-boyfriend decided to chuck in the music writing business to go backpacking in 1989. Silly boy - she got the job and has kept it ever since with two major detours. The first was to EMI Virgin in 1996 to kick start their local music roster which had been dormant for a couple of years. After signing Alex Lloyd, McCabe decided she was of better use back on the media side of the fence where she could do more to promote and support Australian musicians. And enjoy the occasional chat with an international superstar. After working as the entertainment writer and music editor for the Sunday Telegraph for five years, she returned to her old stomping ground at The Daily Telegraph in 2003.
Carney Nir (Aust) - Carney is New Media Manager for Secret Service Artist Management (Powderfinger, The Grates, Yves Klein Blue) and Dew Process Recordings (Sarah Blasko, The Panics, The Living End, Bluejuice), working on all facets of an artist’s digital campaign for both album releases and tours.
Mark Pope (Aust) – Mark Pope has spent the last 31 years working in the Australian music industry, while vainly trying to fulfil his parent’s wishes to get a real job. In 1978 he joined Solo Premier promoting pub dates that nobody else wanted. Since then, he’s gone on to work with The Angels and Cold Chisel both here and overseas. In 1984 he formed Bottom Line Touring where he promoted both local and international artists, Australian Made with MMA and all of INXS’ Australian tours. As well, he managed Jimmy Barnes. In the 1990’s he worked at Sony (Head of Marketing, Australian Artists) and Warner Music (Australian Artists Department covering every aspect from A&R to marketing). In 2000, he left Warner to produce the ARIA Awards which he has done for the last 9 years. In that time he also co-produced and co-promoted the Wave Aid, Live Earth and Sound Relief concerts here in Australia.
Mark Poston (Aust) - Mark's passion is music - so much so it's likely to be found in his DNA one day. He has worked in music since 1989, in a number of roles from running a record store to working in various roles at labels including Sony and BMG - working with many Australian and International artists and managers. By the time he turned 30 he was Head of Capitol Records at EMI Australia working with artists such as Silverchair, Coldplay, Jet, Keith Urban, Paul Mac, Robbie Williams, The Living End, Kasey Chambers, John Williamson, The Finn Brothers and Gorillaz. In 2005, he was promoted to Director, Global Marketing for EMI based in London. In July 2006, Mark went on to be Director of a new EMI UK frontline label Angel Music Group/Charisma. In August 2008, he returned to Australia as Chairman and Senior Vice President of Marketing for EMI Australasia, based in Sydney. Mark is also an active board member of both ARIA and PPCA.
Phil Stevens (Aust) - Stevens established Jarrah Records in 2002 with John Butler and The Waifs and has been managing the label and overseeing all label duties ever since. He also manages both the aforementioned acts under Phil Stevens Management.
Leigh Treweek (Aust) - National Marketing Director and part owner of Street Press Australia (SPA), the leading independent publisher of music and popular culture titles in Australia, Leigh has over 12 years experience in the music and media industries.
Adam Zammit (Aust) - Adam Zammit is the founder and CEO of entertainment marketing, publishing and media agency Peer Group Media. Over the past nine years, Peer Group have been instrumental in the development of corporate investment and brand integration into the Music Industry, helping to bridge the gap between the worlds of art and commerce based on their unique position as a true player in the music and entertainment space.
