HARBOURSIDE 2012

Australia Day Thursday 26th January
Shed 14 Central Pier 1pm - 10pm

From the crew behind the beats and bass of Stereosonic, Welcome Summer, Sunshine People, and Two Tribes comes a completely new experience this Australia Day.

It’s all happening at Harbourside this Australia Day: So Christmas will be over and the January blues will have set in. Thankfully, some of those industrious folk behind the huge Stereosonic, hot Welcome Summer, legendary Two Tribes and famed Sunshine People have come up with the perfect solution to cure those January blues: Harbourside.

Harbourside will be held down by the waterfront and right in the heart of Melbourne’s trendy Docklands. And just when it couldn’t get any better, this inaugural event boasts a massive six international sound maestros and a stack of acclaimed local DJs and performers that will come together over two huge rooms to play, entertain and generally put everyone into a state of mass hysteria on the 26th January 2012.

Harbourside will be set amongst all the glitz and glamour of Docklands’ Shed 14 (Central Pier) – home of the wonderfully chic Fashion Festival and undoubtedly one of the, if not the, most glamorous venues Melbourne has to offer. Shed 14, home of Harbourside, has a huge outdoor area that adjoins the waterfront – so it’ll be dancing to a backdrop of tranquillity and calm when everyone else will be going a little nuts from the sonic reverberations heard from one of the international and local DJs.

Aside from the killer line-up, Harbourside has two ample sized bars, is damn easy to get to and, did we mention that it’s brought to Melbourne's prominent music event organisers; Alumbra, Hardware/Totem and Konkrete?

This boutique event is the only way to celebrate Australia Day. Joining the celebration and party vibe will be Dutch dynamo Laidback Luke, the effervescent Bart B More, the much adored and respected Derrick Carter, the hyper-intense and pulsating Nadastrom, and the latest bright-young-things from the Netherlands, Sandro Silva and Rogerseventytwo.

With two rooms and two distinct sounds, the only place to be this Australia Day is down by the Harbour.

Line up info

Laidback Luke
Dutch dynamo Laidback Luke is so happening that it's enough to make you dizzy. Blasting your bass-bins with blockbuster beats, making your head spin with his hybrid house styles and even cramping up your hands as you scroll down his discography!

He’s worked with David Guetta, Diplo, A-Trak, Steve Aoki and Lil Jon, and remixed everyone from Black Eyed Peas to Calvin Harris and from Christina Aguilera to Moby.

Sure his name is Laidback, however when the music’s jumping he is anything but…

Bart B More
Bart B More, has quickly become one of the brightest stars in the scene. He has consistently been crafting dance floor destroyers that have received massive support from the most prominent DJ’s around the world.

He smashes major festivals and the best clubs world wide, with a high intensity big room house and electro sound that is guaranteed to shake Harbour Side.

His releases including Sneaky Sound System's "We Love", Teenage Bad Girl's "X-Girl" and Cee-Lo Green's "Fuck You" and Bart also boasts remix credits for Tiesto, Drop The Lime, Crookers, Martin Solveig, Sandy Rivera, ATFC and Tommie Sunshine more recently.

Derrick Carter
A much-lauded musical hero of the early 90s house music movement and widely acknowledged as one of the best DJs in the world, Derrick Carter is a man in demand and a regular visitor to our shores. With innovative productions, flawless technical skills and an effortlessly joyful attitude of rocking a crowd, his influence has infiltrated throughout the spectrum of dance music.

Derrick's sets are rooted in house, but he freely travels outside conformist club tastes, seamlessly incorporating old-school disco, soul, jazz, and whatever else catches his fancy to jack the beat and rock the party. Derrick works the big rooms with the ease you'd expect of this dance music icon and veteran. Don't miss Derrick Carter at Harbour Side.

Nadastrom
The Washington DC duo's live show was once famously described as "the dance-music equivalent of the mythical Spinal Tap amplifier that goes to 11" and Nadastrom are known for pushing a hyper-intense club sound to packed floors the world over.

Much lauded by clubbers and taste-makers alike, this duo should be on everyone's must-see list for Harbour Side.

Sandro Silva
Taken under Laidback Luke's wing, Sandro Silva's talent has not gone unnoticed by some of our scene's biggest stars, giving the Dutchman a rapid rise in DJ Land.

His release, ‘Prom Night’ was featured as an Essential Choice on Pete Tong’s BBC radio show. Sandro continues to experiment with new sounds and genres – keeping his sound fresh and innovative. A new Dutch star is definitely in the making!

Rogerseventytwo
Hailing from The Hague, Netherlands, R72 propelled himself onto radio airwaves with his irresistible disco house singalong 'You Take Me Higher'.

The cracking tune went unsigned for months and months until A-Trak (who had made it a staple of his live sets, both solo and as Duck Sauce with Armand Van Helden) snapped it up for Fool’s Gold Records. As they say, the rest is history.
