General Pants Co.’s pioneering ‘singles only’ record label officially launches today. The debut three singles, scouted by the street-savvy General Pants Co. staff will be available for streaming on www.generalpants.com.au/majorlabel and available to purchase through selected online retailers. The first artists to be signed to Major Label are High Highs, Circle Pit and Guineafowl.

Jack Milas (Pip Branson Corporation) teams up with Oli Chang (Theatre Of Disco) to create the High Highs. With the release of their debut album hopefully before the end of the year, the High Highs draw influence from artists such as Neil Young, Boards Of Canada and Radiohead to create solemnly beautiful, stark and uplifting folk pop.

Circle Pit

Circle Pit is the musical relationship between Angela Bermuda and Jack Mannix. Armed with the lyrical intelligence and life experience of people twice their ages, they make like reluctant heroes: a modern day Mick and Keith, with all the glamour, horror and neon sleaze to back it up. Formed just over 2 years ago in the backwaters of Sydney, they did not make their live debut until a year into their existence, instead focusing on the well-crafted song writing that would later comprise their upcoming first record "Bruise Constellation".

Guineafowl

Guineafowl began as a 22-year old solo musician from Sydney. Recording his first five demo tracks on his laptop’s inbuilt microphone, Guineafowl uses drum machines and multiple vocal layering in order to achieve a full band like sound.

Described by presenters as having similar vocal qualities to Talking Heads singer David Byrne, Triple J labeled Guineafowl’s music ‘Indietronic’ due to the use of simple and catchy indie guitar riffs, and drum and bass-like percussion and samples. Guineafowl first began performing live at various friends parties, in their backyards, their living rooms and even their kitchens. Guineafowl was joined by five other musicians.
