Representin’ for São Paulo in the summer of 2011 are Brazil’s hot, hot band of the people, CSS.

CSS have shared their unquenchable thirst for good times and all things pop and art via two world-conquering albums, 2006’s Cansei de Ser Sexy and 2008’s Donkey. As for their next blast of post-punk-electro-art-school madness, bassist Adriano Cintra, keyboardist/ guitarist/ multi-instrumentalists Ana Rezende dos Anjos, Carolina Parra and Luiza Sá and singer Lovefoxxx are playing their cards close to their chests. One thing’s for sure – CSS will go as all-out crazy as ever.
“When we did Donkey we were thinking about the live show, it was all we had in mind,” Lovefoxxx told NME in 2009. “Next time we’re going to do something crazy and very dance. It’s going to be more experimental. We’ll just go crazy and not worry about how to do it live.”
In the meantime, CSS are back to doing what they do best – creating unbridled joy live on stage, in a set that’s equal parts dance party, urban circus, and out-and-out chaos.
“Infectious disco-pogo plus a strong candidate for title of Best Frontwoman in Rock,” says The Guardian, while musicOMH sums up the appeal of CSS simply as a “noisy, sweaty, joyfully entertaining live band”. Or, as the BBC put it even more succinctly: “Braziliant”.
But don’t just take their word for it. As the band’s technicolour frontwoman Lovefoxxx would say: get up, get up, get up! Get up, and get your CSS while it’s hot.
These are the ONLY Australian CSS side shows outside of the Big Day Out dates. Tickets go on sale for both dates at 9.00am local time on Monday, 22 November, 2010.
