This CD does twos things very successfully; highlight how crap I am at singing and how gorgeous the powerfully haunting voice of Betsie Larkin is.

Betsie Larkin: All We Have Is Now, cements her amongst some of the worlds most renowned Trance producers and is something of an art form. Her depth of sound and expression of emotion with every line throughout each track would beg the question of whether a dub version could ever sound as sweet.

Betsie Larkin is a vocalist, songwriter an`d guest writer/vocalist from New York City. Her collaboration with Ferry Corsten on "Made of Love" and "Feel You" appeared on Corsten's album "Twice in a Blue Moon". Soon after its release, it made the top 40 in the Netherlands. It was voted the 5th track overall in 2008 on Armin Van Buuren's "A State of Trance", number one on Above and Beyond's radio, and reached the number one position on Corsten's Countdown's 100th episode. "Made of Love" was the second single and the first vocal track to be released from the "Twice In A Blue Moon" album. There is also an official video. Larkin joined Corsten as his tour kicked off in Malaysia and has joined him for numerous shows all over the globe.

Other electronic dance music releases include "A New Day" with ATB on Kontor Records, "Stronger Creature" with Kenneth Thomas on Tetsuo Records, and "All The Way" with Austin Leeds/Starkillers on Ultra Records.

Larkin's previous work has spanned rock, electronica, and independent work as a singer-songwriter. She began recording music and performing in Boston, Massachusetts with her former mainly electronic-based band. They relocated to Los Angeles to tour west coast venues and during this time also completed their second album.

Larkin's subsequent project, Mariposa, was electronic music based and produced by Brendan Hawkins. Larkin completed a record titled Diary Thief with a group of friends in Venice, California. She then moved to New York and immediately started working on her first solo record.

This debut album, All We Have Is Now is superb. There isn’t another way to say it. The record holds its own with tracks that haven’t gone ‘that’ high in the dance music charts, rather this album contains pieces that prove Betsie can hold your attention on her own without a 50,000 strong crowd around you or the worlds top DJs in front of you.

The 12 tracks delivers her independent works as well as collective installments with co-labs with the likes of Lange, Ferry Corsten, John O’Callaghan, Super8 & Tab and a rare vocal production with Sied van Riel. Each producer with their own flavour and style, Betsie’s voice simply encapsulates the mood they set and amplifies it with an electrifying voice.

Looking at both sides of the coin, this album presents us with a range of work from a singer predominately known for her work within the trance community. Nevertheless, it is not a foot stamping, shuffle inducing trance frenzy that one might think this album could be, given the abilities her tracks can have on the masses at a dance festival. Each track is independently mastered and played alone it is a truly engaging experience, bouncing on every beat. It is soulful, it is beautiful, and will in no way offend any of the human senses.

To be very honest, if you handed this to a non-trance fan I’d be happy to bet my lunch money, they’d ask why this girl isn’t on every radio station being sung off key during early morning traffic. Cos its not pop crap :P !!!!!

This record proves her diversity, her strength and her ability to express more substantial feelings through sound than just a voice-over-a-trance-beat vocal artist, if anything it proves her name will grace the stages with many a trance, rock and electronica artist to come.
