BDO 2011

Big Day Out SECOND LINE UP ANNOUNCEMENT 2011

BIG DAY OUT 2011 second and final line-up announcement.

With over 40 amazing acts from home and around the world already on board its time to complete the picture of what‟s in store for the 2011 series of BIG DAY OUT festivals. For the record, 2011 was by far our biggest ever first announcement.

The Gold Coast, Melbourne and Sydney events sold out in minutes and a second Sydney BIG DAY OUT has been added on Thursday, 27 January to cope with overwhelming ticket demand. BIG DAY OUT 2011 is ever evolving and to follow are the new additions musically and visually to complete the BIG DAY OUT 2011 line-up.

As you would know BIG DAY OUT is not just about international acts. We truly believe in supporting local musicians, DJs and artists. Each show has many additional local acts resulting in seven different BIG DAY OUT line-ups.

It's also not just about bands. From the always surreal LILYWORLD to the even more surreal SILENT DISCO or the visual and sensory spectacles created by this year‟s MUCKAMUCKS artists. There are always more worlds within worlds to explore.

Primal Scream BDO Sideshows

Lees & West proudly present PRIMAL SCREAM SCREAMADELICA LIVE SYDNEY AND MELBOURNE BIG DAY OUT SIDE SHOWS ANNOUNCED!

Twenty years after taking the sounds and spirit of the second summer of love and acid house and melding it into one of the greatest albums of the 1990s, British rockers PRIMAL SCREAM will remake history by performing their epoch-defining classic Screamadelica in full in Australia.

“Both of its time yet quintessentially timeless, Screamadelica still sounds like nothing else, yet all things at once. Digestible whether off your nut in a club, soundtracking a barbeque or even indie seduction… A solid gold classic” (BBC, March 2009).

Lupe Fiasco BDO Sideshows 2011

Lees & West proudly present LUPE FIASCO - SYDNEY AND MELBOURNE BIG DAY OUT SIDE SHOWS ANNOUNCED!

If we’re beamin’, it’s because we’re psyched to be welcoming back hip hop superstar LUPE FIASCO.

“One of the best shows, ever… From the drop of the microphone, LUPE was right into it. The real fiasco began when LUPE pulled out favourites like Kick, Push, Hip Hop Saved My Life, Superstar and Go Go Gadget Flow.” (FasterLouder, March 2010)

The MC with the madly energetic, fast-flowin’ live-band show kicked and pushed outta Chicago with two Grammy-nominated albums, Food & Liquor and The Cool. He’s collaborated with Kanye West, Mike Shinoda and Pharrell Williams, won praise from Jay-Z, founded a design and clothing company and released a punk record with his side project band, Japanese Cartoon. And, as he told Complex, “I’m better than you. And I can really rap. And you’ll even say that I’m better than you.” All of which proves, thankfully, that while he may have talked of retirement plans in recent years, too much is never enough for LUPE FIASCO.

BOOKA SHADE (LIVE) BDO Sideshows

SYDNEY AND MELBOURNE BIG DAY OUT - SIDE SHOWS ANNOUNCED!

It’s BOOKA SHADE that’ll get the job done this summer and your only chance to experience them in LIVE mode is at their Big Day Out sideshows. As you’d expect from the guys who created such brilliant tracks as Mandarine Girl, Body Language and In White Rooms … Since then they’ve released a string of hit singles, become one of the world’s most sought-after electronic live acts and developed their unique sound on the acclaimed albums Movements and The Sun & The Neon Light.

“Cooler than a liquid nitrogen drip” (ClashMusic, May 2010).

In charge of their own production company and studio for the last 15 years, they have applied their wide range of talents not only to the realm of electronic music, but also a large number of other media productions. After two early 90s synth pop album releases and a number of live tours, they switched their attention to club projects for established labels like R&S, Harthouse or Tommy Boy. But it was their early incarnation of Booka Shade on illustrious Dutch label Touché which hit the zeitgeist and triggered excitement and enthusiasm in clubs all across Europe.

BOOKA SHADE’s music continues to hover between the euphoric rises and the melodramatic down moments, all expertly fused to form a rousing selection of chord changes and cutting–edge vocals. BOOKA SHADE have conquered dance floors the world over and have penned some of the biggest records to grace the decks, earning a reputation for the German trendsetters as an electronic musical force. Grab the feeling and don’t let go with BOOKA SHADE LIVE in concert.

These are the ONLY Booka Shade (Live) side shows outside of the Booka Shade DJ Set at the Big Day Out dates. Tickets go on sale for both shows at 9.00am local time Monday, 22 November, 2010. BOOKA SHADE (LIVE)

CSS BDO Sideshows

Lees & West proudly present CSS - SYDNEY AND MELBOURNE BIG DAY OUT SIDE SHOWS ANNOUNCED!

Representin’ for São Paulo in the summer of 2011 are Brazil’s hot, hot band of the people, CSS.

“The physical embodiment of the best party ever” (NME, December 2007).

CSS have shared their unquenchable thirst for good times and all things pop and art via two world-conquering albums, 2006’s Cansei de Ser Sexy and 2008’s Donkey. As for their next blast of post-punk-electro-art-school madness, bassist Adriano Cintra, keyboardist/ guitarist/ multi-instrumentalists Ana Rezende dos Anjos, Carolina Parra and Luiza Sá and singer Lovefoxxx are playing their cards close to their chests. One thing’s for sure – CSS will go as all-out crazy as ever.
