Angus & Julia Stone

Print
Angus & Julia Stone first began performing together as children – joining their father’s school band on trumpet and trombone respectively. It wasn't until 2005 though that they hit on the idea of forming a song-writing and performance partnership. It was an open mic night at the Coogee Beach Hotel that brought them together in this way for the first time and the chemistry was obvious.

By 2007 they had released their debut album A Book Like This– it sold a cool 70,000 copies in Australia featuring hits Wasted, The Beast, and Just a Boy. Their just released second album, Down the Way has seen them rocket to number 1 on the ARIA charts for the first time with hits Big Jet Plane and And the Boys in the mix – ensuring sold out shows wherever they go.

Angus & Julia recently performed at the opening of the newly minted Go Between Bridge in Brisbane. The fact that this ridiculously talented brother and sister duo were chosen to help cut the ribbon on what will become a legacy for Australia's most enduring and wistful songwriters was no coincidence. In truth, over the past few years, the Stones have emerged as the heirs apparent to the Go-Between's crown as the nations preferred purveyors of harmonic rural pop.
