A-TRAK

Print
Very few DJs can jump from club sets to high-profile festival performances, to larger-than-life stadium shows with ease. In today’s DJ culture, A-Trak holds a truly unique place. Known to his folks as Alain Macklovitch – this New York based artist has become accustomed to the spotlight. In 1997, at the tender age of 15, he took out the DMC World Turntable Championships. In the process he became both the youngest and first ever Canadian winner of this coveted prize.

He then toured the globe, first alongside Q-Bert’s Invisibl Skratch Piklz and then with Craze and the Allies. In 2004, he was hand-picked by Kanye West to be his tour DJ. A near decade of youthful meanderings was captured on his acclaimed DVD Sunglasses Is A Must.

As an entrpeneur, A-Trak is as shrewd as they come. He started 2007's most talked about label Fools Gold with a mission to merge all aspects of club music. This resulted in his first ever mix-tape: Dirty South Dance. He has also become an unexpected style icon - collaborating with Nike, New Era, Kidrobot, Zoo York and pretty much every designer worth his salt. He's one of the coolest men on the planet right now and he's returning to Australia by popular demand after a huge response to his 2008 national tour.
